The Influential and Injustice At their Hand
I remember
the sweaty air when we came home. My eyeglasses covered with dust and I
couldn’t have a good visual. I was
uneasy on a seat and it’s hard to clearly steer away from my ride inside the
tight room of a tricycle.
A feeling swathe
all over with only the sense when we can quickly rest and be recharged as we
finally reached home.
It was not
what you know later towards being received in a proper ambiance coming home. How displeasing also awful because the
tormentor rescinded our legal rights to go freely into our own permanent home.
My youngest son and I stood in a confused daze. The man gate locked with a solid chain. The preposterous scheme of the influential : does a harmful injury be allowed, while rights to good access /free passage into your own home and freedom denied to you?
My youngest son and I stood in a confused daze. The man gate locked with a solid chain. The preposterous scheme of the influential : does a harmful injury be allowed, while rights to good access /free passage into your own home and freedom denied to you?
We couldn’t
enter our own home. A hostile measure by fellow Catholics in our
neighborhood---repeats of threats, harassment and orchestrated “injurious acts”
which my family and other pedestrian neighbors have suffered.
My mind
remembered those gloomy times a number of us got the
harsh intimidation and abuse from the control of the influential rich group
where the administrator was also part and she got the instant position after
disowning the previous good leader. She put in a lengthy term from 2005 till
present.
We objected the extended
permanency of office of the autocratic officer out of delicadeza that reign
over undemocratic power & authority! Even the President of the land has a
fixed term of office or the High Justice of the SC now convicted.
I heard the easy vote was lacking
of a proper quorum. The officer is being backed by an influential political
family.
I was puzzled the notable profile of most residents
with stature as doctors, engineers, CPA’s, high business leaders couldn’t give
a filial service for the community. We
need healthy-bodied, law-abiding and right men with good sense of moral right
and wrong to commit in the security and support for our community.
The political Administrator is
also not doing her job capably because she resides every weekdays, Mondays thru
Fridays in Quezon City. She visits our community on Satudays & Sundays.
Leadership is a matter of quality of performance
that should take care auspiciously, acquire or know the daily pressing duties:
garbage and waste scattered within the vicinity, filth of animals/pets of homeowners
who let them loose, crowded parking of cars congesting a narrow street that
will be a danger in fire emergencies, water service and power interruption, squabbling
of other neighbors, disaster-control due to emerging risks, security
coordination with mother association etc.
Every loud
grievance from voice of well-meaning pedestrian -neighbors was not heeded.
Many successive
harassment followed at the same time the worst circumstances like no warnings
given in changing keys and padlocks. The whole East gate was permanently closed
and repaired by welding the
contraption.
I was bewildered that the national government resonated a Fire Code Law
Under existing laws which were ignored/ violated are expressed in
bold through the Constitution described laws such as PD 1216 , PD 1185. It’s
sticking to the law & principles of human right.
We have been unfairly treated
being pedestrians mostly students,
working commuters, sufferers of
health emergencies, house helpers plus Eastside homeowners who got an offensive treatment from the cruelty that we became prey to arrogance ---
disrespecting our individual liberties
and have been distressed with unlawful actions by the officers.
Likewise, Batas
Pambansa 344, otherwise known as the "Accessibility Law". Sec. 25. Barrier-Free Environment since our society gives rights to
the handicapped and the elderly. I suffered a tibia fracture, knee injury and
some homeowners have poor eyesight and afflicted with asthma as well as
age-related deceases (memory gaps or absent-mindedness, fatigue and body
weakness.)
That access is a road basic to students and commuting pedestrians in a
rush daily and the family living near treating it as “fastest health
emergency-fire-exit and our “Attendant passage” in our regular day-to-day life”
We are apprised also there are public institutions that should be
accessible to plain citizens (public health center nearby, public police
station, public barangay, school institutions and public tricycles while on the other secured road there’s a
public church or a safe road to use during floods)
Are we backsliding the values
of our democracy and laws when only the privileged members can enjoy the upper
hand and control every individual freedom?
The
gate and “key” is wholly a “form of human bondage” as my appeal is a simple
journey when my own rights and those of others are safeguarded. My education, my government and religion
wired these teachings to avoid the frivolities when people are unfair to
others.
I am pained they coerced less privileged
members to weather the extreme threat of harsh climate as we lock and unlock
the gate. Lately the circumstance on my health, simple freedom to enjoy the
best of my “tomorrows” in spite of health issues failing eyesight and
absent-mindedness in locating the key.
The
spread of diseases from hand contact as we use the keys, padlock and touch the
gate can put us to more health risks especially HiNi, meningococcemia, flu,
colds and other contagious viruses. People agonized through their malicious
action to put this harsh climate and offend our rights in these “gate and key /
coercive climate.”
The
privileged section in our street have the conveniences of high fences, several
hired helpers, trained watch dogs, well-lighted community friendship lamp
posts, DAY-GUARD detailed in the west
area and homes with CCTV ---these couldn’t still appease their paranoia and
fear. They rather lived in enclosed tower and put a dysfunctional society
without living together with the lowly /ordinary social class since they feel
untouchables distancing from the hardworking low economic status in a
society. Don’t they regard natural calamities
are more threatening than grubby street urchins.
We need a NIGHT GUARD very critical compared to a DAY GUARD
that is enjoyed by administrator, her own circle of following.
East gate problems
have been seen according to officers as hotspot of intruders/strangers however
a missing piece is there’s no assignment of a guard which the administrator
claim this Eastside has a blackish image as a
crime spot.
East Gate is the thoroughfare of pedestrian residents then a glut coming from passersby in nearby communities and plying tricycles of our village.
The past experience of my youngest son on July this year going on an errand to the store along (omitted place)drive Dulo, a crime almost killed his life but he kept running it’s good the gate was open , if that was closed the criminal could corner him at the gate.
The
very dark Dulo-Drive road needs Meralco lighting as it becomes a
hotspot for crimes. I wish the political leaders take cognizance police
visibility and putting augmented security can resolve this perennial security
risk.
If anyone can wonder (“care”an applicable word) that there’s more than ten
inside a Christian community whose conditions and welfare are being
offended/forsaken, would you selfishly walk away to disconnect and distance
yourselves because you’re confined to your glass tower?
How can anyone fail to see we
ought to blend with everyone in a society (no social barrier) and set
our sights human right for meaningful/sense of probity extends in our actions?
Simple hardworking poor (the
village magtataho, ice cream vendor, small-time vendors, service utility men
(mail man etc) and poverty-stricken malnourished young scavengers are
struggling and also need not be discriminated.
What I believe
about injustice, the oppressor is willful to always put you in misery? What I
believe in a good
leader, he listens, he serves in humility? What I believe in competent police
and
Municipal leaders,
they should be protectors and be attuned to our needs?
SO I pray fervently everyone can be ablaze with grander life values when
there’s equality and every right is respected. I wish it for my community
NEIGHBORHOOD UNITY –it’s a bright outlook. All numbers/each & everyone are part of
the solution in our security endeavors.
This Philippine
Independence day 2012, another threat landed during the eve when the
Administrator sent a neighbor to inform three homes would be extracted out and
the gate placed away from our homes. This would be a present and clear danger
when high floods like Ondoy, Sendong and continues LPA affected us so our lives
would come at risk since the gate is closed for fleeing to safe higher grounds.
The influential need
to listen: No man can put a chain about the ankle of his
fellow man without finding the other end fastened about his own neck. ~Frederick
Douglas.
Those who deny freedom to
others deserve it not for themselves. ~Abraham Lincoln .
In God’s own instruction: "Tell those who are rich in this world's
goods not to be proud, and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth"
(1 Tm 6:17).
Every Christian is to live
simply. "Those things I used to consider gain I have now reappraised as
loss in the light of Christ" (Phil 3:7). We have been chosen out of this
world (Jn 15:19). Although we still live in the midst of plenty, we don't hold
on to it.
Jesus warned “store up for yourselves
treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and
steal” (Matt. 6:19). Rather, we should store up treasure in heaven,
“for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:21)”
Would
we waste human freedom and rights under our governing system mindless to uphold every democratic laws?....injustice
moves backward a society to inhuman discrimination and neo-sadism. A population
in the low hierarchy gets the abuse of the influential…the bigots stained our
system of human values.
